Your physical therapy ended. Did your body get the memo?
Discharge is not the same as recovered. PT gets you out of crisis; what comes next is rebuilding strength, balance, and trust in the side that got hurt — without waking it back up.
None of these mean the recovery failed. They mean the rebuild never happened — and that is a training problem, not a permanent one.
You are here because you want to carry groceries up the stairs without planning for it. Because you want to get down on the floor with your grandchildren and get back up without an audience. Because you want to travel, garden, play, and stop organizing your week around one joint.
That is not a small goal. That is your life, and it is the right thing to train for.
So we do not train around your injury forever. We rebuild the specific capacities it took, at a pace the tissue can accept, until the thing you are protecting is strong enough that you stop thinking about it.
Not managing it. Rebuilding it.
Physical therapy gets you out of crisis and stops when the insurance does. A personal trainer hands you exercises and counts your reps. Neither one teaches you why your elbow hurts on a Tuesday and not a Thursday.
We live in the space between the two — and we teach, so you leave able to make your own next decision. Here is what that actually looks like.
Simple movements and physical tests to see how your body actually responds — how you rotate, how you load one leg, what your ankles and hips contribute. There is no passing or failing. The goal is awareness, and it usually explains the pain within the first twenty minutes.
Pain shows up where the load lands, not where the problem started. Your elbow is often covering for a rib cage that won't rotate; your knee for hips and ankles that stopped participating. We work the cause, not the complaint.
Stairs, curbs, car doors, the garden, the floor. We rebuild the capacities the injury took — single-leg strength, balance, rotation, getting up and down — at a pace the tissue can actually accept.
Everything we teach runs through the Discover Your Life Through Movement system.
Slow down, pay attention, ask better questions. You stop guessing about your own body.
Stop being steered by an old injury or the story you've told yourself about it.
Primers that prepare your body, patterns that organize movement, positions that build strength and control.
The 8 Essentials that determine whether your training actually holds — including sleep, recovery, and nourishment.
"I had the pleasure of working with Alex during my recovery from back surgery and I cannot recommend him highly enough. He designed a program specifically tailored to my needs — never pushing too hard, but always moving me forward at exactly the right pace."
"I met Sean after my surgery more than a decade ago, which left me with balancing problems. Under his guidance, my ability to move and balance has increased tremendously. He has a great talent to identify causes of muscular ailments."
"I am 68 years old and feel so much better than I have in years. After two hip replacements I am strong and confident in my ability to maintain my health."
